Basement, Clerkenwell, London

The Listening Bar is the club after dark: thirty-six low seats arranged around horn-loaded speakers and a collection of four thousand records that grows by member donation and shrinks by absolutely no mechanism at all.
Some nights are programmed — one album, front to back, loud. Most nights the bar simply plays what the room needs. Conversation is welcome between records and unnecessary during them. The whisky shelf is short, deep and occasionally argumentative.
