INDEX 10
TERMS
Terms of membership.
The rules of the house, written to be read. Nothing here should surprise anyone who has eaten at the table.
01 — Membership
Membership of The Index is personal and non-transferable — the card has your name on it for a reason. It grants access to the club’s spaces, programme and directory, subject to these terms and the house rules printed inside the club.
02 — House rules
What is said at the table stays at the table. Guests are welcome and are your responsibility. Recording — audio, video, or transcription — is not permitted at member events. Repeatedly treating the club as an audience rather than a room is grounds for a conversation, then a refund.
03 — Payments and renewals
Membership is billed annually in advance and renews automatically unless you tell us otherwise, which you can do by email at any point up to your renewal date. Prices include VAT. If a price changes, you keep your current rate until the following renewal.
04 — Pausing and cancellation
You may pause membership for parental leave, sabbaticals or otherwise strange years — your number is held for you. You may cancel within fourteen days of first joining for a full refund, and at any renewal thereafter.
05 — Events
Places at events are limited by design. If you book and cannot attend, release the seat so the waitlist moves; three unreleased no-shows in a season pauses your booking privileges for a month. Some events are member-hosted — the club curates, hosts decide.
06 — The website
Content on this site — text, photography and design — belongs to The Index or its licensors and may not be reused commercially without permission. The Journal may be quoted with attribution and a link, which is the only marketing we do.
